Tips For Maintaining Weight After Fat Removal
If you have recently gotten liposuction or some other fat removal procedure, you likely are thrilled with the way that your body looks and want to keep it that way. However, it is often common for people to gain the weight that they lost back within a relatively short period of time. Here are some tips for keeping the weight off after you have gotten the fat removed.
1. Track Your Weight
Right after you have gotten the liposuction, try to weigh yourself at the same time every day for that week. Do it in the morning before you eat anything and right after you go to the bathroom. At the end of the seven days, take the average of the weights that you took by adding them up and dividing by seven. This will be your post-surgery comparison weight. You don't want to weigh yourself just once because you might be bloated that day.
Once you have your comparison weight, you will be able to track your weight. You want to be sure that you head off any weight gain before it gets too difficult for you to deal with. If you do see any weight gain, don't take any action until you get a similar measurement for a few days in order to make sure that it isn't just water weight.
2. Eat at a Deficit in the Beginning
When you first get liposuction done, you are going to want to eat at a caloric deficit in the beginning. The reason for this is that you are going to be lighter and your muscles are going to need to do less work to get you to move around. You are therefore going to be burning less calories. Try to aim for 250 calories to 500 calories less than what you were eating before you got the liposuction. If you notice that your are losing weight, you can gradually add more calories into your diet. If you notice that you are gaining weight, you can increase your deficit to a level where you are maintaining weight.
Finally, enjoy how much easier it is to move around by exercising. Diet tends to be more important for maintaining weight, but exercising will give you newfound appreciation for your body and what it can do. It will help keep you motivated to keep the weight off and help you feel better. Do whatever you can, even if it is just walking, to keep moving.
